Data & Systems
At DPA we use our extensive knowledge and experience of information management to help organisations maximise the benefits derived from their existing data and systems.
Data quality problems often arise through incorrect user behaviours and can lead to a sustained decline in quality. Systems projects sometimes fail to deliver the planned benefits due to poor requirements specifications and failure to resolve underlying process issues.
We have extensive experience in the management, operation and governance of major corporate information systems including their support and update processes. Our popular Data Zoo concept is used to illustrate generic data behaviours and to provide a range of training to improve approaches to data.
We regularly provide conference presentations on the subject of asset information management.
A typical approach to a data or system assignment would include:
- Understand organisation strategy, system requirements, related processes and information standards
- Assess the nature, extent and severity of data quality issues (including accuracy, completeness and validity) and then determine the root cause(s) of these problems
- Assess the effectiveness of system usage, support and application ergonomics
- Review data and system governance arrangements
- Identify potential future changes in system and data requirements
- Ensure requirements specifications for systems projects are correctly defined
- Develop a targeted, prioritised programme of pragmatic improvement activities with quantified benefits
- Assist organisations to deliver these changes
- Monitor the ongoing effectiveness of systems and data exploitation
